February 01, 2006

"AN ARTISTIC DISCOVERY"

The Annual Congressional Arts Competition and National Exhibition
Each year, Members of the US House of Representatives, committed to the greatness of our cultural heritage, join together to recognize the creative spirit of American high schools in a nationwide art competition. This contest, An Artistic Discovery, is implemented by Members in their Congressional Districts and feature paintings, drawing, photographs, and prints. Each Member brings a winning entry back to Washington, DC to be displayed in a corridor of the US Capitol. The creative energies of Americans are virtually boundless. An American Discovery provides Member of Congress an opportunity to recognize this deep reservoir of talent. Launched in 1982 this nationwide event has produced thousands of local competitions, yielding more than 500,000 high school winners.
