Legislation Will Restore FEMA As An Independent Agency

Washington, D.C. The leadership of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Chairman of the Select Bipartisan Committee investigating Hurricane Katrina will hold a press conference on Tuesday to introduce the RESPOND Act: Restoring Emergency Services to Protect Our Nation from Disasters Act bipartisan comprehensive emergency management reform legislation that will strengthen the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and restore it as an independent agency.
